Make a spare while one key still works
Having a spare gives you another way to use the car if your everyday key goes missing. It can also help when two people share a vehicle. The starting point is a working key and the exact vehicle details, rather than the shape of the key case alone.
We assess mechanical keys, transponder keys, remote keys and keyless fobs according to the equipment fitted. A similar-looking remote is not necessarily compatible with the immobiliser or remote locking system.
Your appointment near MParc in Carouge
Spare key appointments take place near MParc in Carouge, at a meeting point confirmed in advance. Please contact us before travelling. There is no walk-in counter, and an enquiry does not reserve a time slot.
Bring the car and all available keys. We confirm the documents required to verify your entitlement to the vehicle. If travelling to Carouge is inconvenient, ask about a mobile appointment at the car’s location in the Geneva canton.
Cutting, programming and practical checks
Depending on the vehicle, preparing a spare may include cutting the emergency blade, programming the starting transponder and pairing the remote functions. The functions included are agreed with you before the work begins.
The finished key is checked with the vehicle for the supported starting and locking functions. Keyless entry is assessed separately where fitted. We do not claim that every year or security generation can be programmed.
What to send for a useful quote
Provide the make, model, year and a photo of your existing key if available. Tell us whether the car starts normally, whether remote locking works and which functions you want on the spare.
The quote reflects the key reference, programming and any mobile visit. Check with us before purchasing a key online: used or incompatible keys may not be reusable. If no key remains, use our lost car key service instead.
